This year continues to be a contemplation on what it means to me to live a Spirit-led life. For me, a big part of this is committing to some kind of conscious or spiritual practice. Or several. We start particular practices because we have an outcome in mind. But as we do them regularly they evolve with us.
Practice is a funny word. We have a cultural connotation around it here in the west. We’ve all heard the saying that practice makes perfect. When used as a verb, it gives the sense of ongoing learning or refinement. So calling it a practice can sometimes make us feel like we might never have the level of skill we want at something. But we are not striving for perfection, because wherever we are at is perfect for us right now in the moment. Once we can accept that and relax into the process of what we are doing, it becomes being. And being is the practice. Now I’m not intentionally making this sound like a Zen koan. When we practice, we are trying to refine our skills to get better at something, like meditation or energy healing, or intuitive work. We do this to feel better. We do the yoga to stretch our our bodies. We do the meditation to quiet our minds. We do the jogging or playing music or sport because it makes us feel good. Maybe it’s for our health but also can be something that feeds our soul. And this shifts the way we live our lives. It grows into what we call a practice. When practice becomes a noun, I like to think of it as a way of being. Our spiritual practices can also become rituals as we do them regularly and with intention. I think there’s a fluidity between practice, ritual, and ceremony. And many times I combine all three at once. Every morning I have a practice when I do some yoga and my muscles get to practice holding a position. Then I meditate for a little while so my mind gets to practice holding a certain focus. Then that shifts into grounding, checking in with my energy body, greeting all my helping spirits with gratitude, and asking what I need to know for the day. All these actions make up a practice, and it’s a ritual because I do at least some parts of it every day. It’s also a ceremony because I have reverence for myself and for the beings and Spirits that I’m engaging with then. Yes, some mornings it’s a lot, depending what’s going on in my life. But it started many years ago as a commitment to take care of myself, and to create strong relationships with my team of Spirit guides and helpers. It gives me the space to receive insights and epiphanies to help expand and refine my intuitive gifts and guide my ever unfolding path. Everyone’s spiritual practice is going to be different. For some folks it may be as simple as walking their dog every morning. For others it may be taking a bath, or doing an hour of tai chi, or repeating a sacred chant 108 times or any number of things. We don’t even have to do it daily, maybe it’s weekly or with the moon cycles. But the common thread is making the time for and being in the practice. Over time we may realize that it helps give us the foundations of strength, trust and peace to tend to ourselves, but also others as needed. And I feel it ripples out to also affect and tend the collective energy of the planet, following the principle of ‘as within, so without’. If we needed another good reason to commit to our practice, maybe that’s a big one.

Mahalo for reminding me to GREET my spirit guides and helpers during my morning ritual of attunement to the world that is ..Now I will say Good Morning like I do with the rest of my family and maybe, 'what shall we do today?' I may sing or leave flowers, and admire their works in the world around me and speak to them at different times or think on the dreams I've had- but I haven't ACTUALLY wished them good morning! HAH! sometimes the most natural and obvious things aren't that obvious. (also thank you for saying your words aren't AI, I hadn't thought about it when I post my writing, maybe now I will do the same)
